Overview

Consolidated Packaging Group Inc. (CPGI) plays a critical role in the global automotive supply chain by handling the visual inspection and repacking of raw forged conrods destined for GM vehicles. These parts, imported to Canada in bulk packed via shipping containers to address domestic shortages, are carefully inspected, repacked into provided specialized dunnage designed for automated machinery and sent to the next plant for further processing.

The Challenge

This project presented several unique challenges:

Cross-Functional Coordination: Working closely with AAM’s global plants to coordinate container receipts and align with broader supply chain efforts.

Quality Assurance: Inspecting each conrod individually to ensure compliance with GM’s BS-10 quality standards.

Specialized Repacking: Precisely loading parts into provided custom-designed dunnage trays to ensure compatibility with automated equipment.

Tight Deadlines: Meeting stringent timelines to support GM’s Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing system.

Traceability: Ensuring proper documentation to support part tracking throughout the process.
